Traveling so much, I'm constantly looking for a sense of place. Catharsis is found in the foundation of familiarity; my earliest memories of home and yards, siblings and countrysides. Traveling so much, I'm constantly looking for a sense of place. Catharsis is found in the foundation of familiarity; my earliest memories of home and yards, siblings and countrysides. These mental images anchor me and create the difference between familiar and foreign. I wish I could somehow hold my own memories: Eating sprouts in the late August sun or picking blueberries along the train track. Or even my first bee-sting. This impossibility led me to take pictures of my niece and nephew, melding their new memories with my own nostalgic recollections. My own memories that had turned slippery and gray are revived in some way through the universal human moments found in their young lives.
